Project  AHAPS

Austrian High Altitude Pseudo Satellite

Soaring, unmanned, independently drone

AHAPS provides future users a completely new, fast and inexpensive access to research in the upper troposphere and stratosphere.

AHAPS is made to operate at altitudes up to 100,000 ft or over 30,000 meters.

Comparable projects in the area segment of the competitors reach a height of around 60% of AHAPS, helium height balloons rise even higher, but these are naturally neither vertically nor horizontally controllable.

As a first step into this new market, AHAPS is planned as an unmanned, largely autonomously flying drone, and subsequently manned and longer-flying successors are planned.
